The first Eastern International Trade Fair organized by Abia North Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ANCCIMA) in partnership with the state government will hold from Nov. 30 to Dec. 9, 2013.

Director General, ANCCIMA, Chief Joseph Olaka who stated this in an interview with journalists in Umuahia added that the exhibition which would hold at the play ground of Ohafia local council headquarters would open the South East to diversified investment opportunities.

“The major exhibitors will come from Vietnam, Canada and South Africa and all arrangements for a successful outing have been concluded with them,” he said.

He said that the Nigerian High Commission in Canada, Chief Ojo Maduekwe had been at the fore front in mobilizing exhibitors from Canada.

“Abia North as one of the major growing economies in the South East is a big market which investors will be willing to explore. There are several unharnessed investment opportunities there and this is what we intend to expose to the world,” he said.

He said that the event would also offer opportunities to explore the tourism potentials of Abia North, particularly the Arochukwu Long Juju and Uturu Caves. Olaka said that one of the major objectives of the trade fair would be to re-establish the cashew processing company in Isiukwato area as well as take advantage of the proposed industrial park in Ohafia.

“Both local and foreign exhibitors will participate actively in the exhibition and will use the opportunity to forge lasting alliances,” he said.

Olaka said that apart from home-made produce that would be in exhibition, such equipment as Small and Medium Scale machineries and equipment as well as security appliances would also be on display.

“It promises to be an exhibition that will impact on many sectors of the economy such as mining, oil and gas, financing and the rest of them,” he said.

Olaka commended that state government for the interest it had shown to partner with ANCCIMA to actualise the objectives of the fair.
