THE Anambra State leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega to remove the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in the state Professor Chukwuemeka Onukaogu over alleged bias in handling the affairs of the commission in the state.
The state chairman of the party, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi, who made the call, accused the state REC of causing more harm than good in the way he takes stand on issues concerning the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Specifically, Emeakayi is worried that despite various proofs and court judgments concerning PDP in the state especially on the issue of its rightful leadership in the state, Onukaogu has continued to cause more confusion by claiming that INEC recognizes the Chike Oguebego faction of the party.
He said: “For peace to reign in this state, we are calling on INEC to, as a matter of urgency, take him (Onukaogu) away from this state before the governorship election because he will mess it up.
I want all political parties to rise up on this issue.
“Onukaogu cannot be in Anambra perpetually. He has been causing confusion and committing all sorts of atrocities.
If he has done well in Anambra State, he should be taken to another state to continue such good works.”
