He explained that he is fit and medically sound, just as he challenged those who doubt his state of health to go for a race with him.
Speaking on the plane crash that occurred on Thursday which claimed the lives of the son of Chief Olu Falae, Deji Falae, who was Ondo State Commissioner for culture and tourism, and others, he said it was unfortunate that such incident occurred despite the claim by the federal government that she has invested so much in the aviation sector to make it a better place, he said it was shameful and sad for such a thing to happen.
According to him, the aviation sector is being managed by mediocres who knew nothing about the sector, he noted that if the sector had been managed by professionals there would have been tremendous improvement in that sector.
Tinubu explained that those managing the aviation sector are fraudsters who defraud the federal government, and claimed to have worked on improving the sector, ”they allow fraudster to dominate the profession, aviation officer should be train and re train, rather than do that, what they do was to stop the plane of Rotimi Amaechi and recall the plane of Adams Oshiomhole, whereas record of maintenance of airline is being compromised and give room for waste, there is too much bureaucracy, they should have allowed professionals. It is a pity many lives of promising Nigerians are lost .
“ It is sad Pilots are subjected to danger, the members of the committee set up to make enquiry do not have the knowledge, it is left to raise issues. ” He said.
Speaking on the decision of president Goodluck Jonathan to set up Sovereign National Conference, Tinubu said the timing for the conference was wrong and it was a diversionary means to shift the attention of Nigerians to other issues, adding that it may not produce the desired result, just as he wondered what has happened to the various committees set up in the past, stressing that nothing meaningful has come out of the committees report.
He explained further that Sovereign Nation Conference will be necessary when Nigeria have a leader of character, just as he added that the matter would be discussed by his party, and whatever his party agreed upon would be done by him.”How long have we been talking about this why suddenly, there is something in the political history and social history, they say beware of Greek gift, it is only a smart rodent in a house full of little crumble of poison that will survive the trapping, let us first of all ask series of questions, I am yet to consult with my party, but I see a contradiction here, deception, lack of honesty, lack of integrity I wish to discuss with my party, but if my party says yes, let us look at the agenda and develop our agenda, but Nigeria is much divided right now, why is it necessary, where is the sovereignty, what about the electoral act, what about the Lemu committee, have you had any white paper come out of that.
“Why should it be now, how many months to the election, can’t you smell a good soup when it being cooked, can’t you smell the odour of deception, it is left for my party and all of us.”
Tinubu wondered that why President Goodluck Jonathan who never believed in SNC suddenly have a change of mind, particularly when he is facing serious challenges in his party.
