The South East Democratic Network has endorsed the candidature of Dr. Willie Obiano and his running mate Dr. Nkem Okeke for the November gubernatorial election in Anambra state.
SEDN strongly believes that Obiano is the most qualified and generally accepted candidate for governor in the forthcoming election. Other candidates are patriotic illustrious sons of Anambra state who could as well govern the state but Willie Obiano is the first among equal. His antecedent and APGA platform which Ndigbo adopted since June 22 2002, the party was registered by INEC as their instrument, vehicle and platform for re-integration, negotiation and alliance with like-minded political parties in our collective quest at building a strong, virile and prosperous democratic nation.
Moreso, APGA has stamped its authority in Anambra state through the progressive governance of Mr. Peter Obi which has greatly improved the living standards of the good people of Anambra state. Governor Obi’s transformation agenda and massive implementation of his contract with Anambrarians are a splendid commentary in good governance. The masses have derived abundant dividends of democracy. Obi’s achievements are worthy of praise and emulation by other South East governors.
South East Democratic network enjoins all eligible voters in Anambra state to vote for APGA and its candidate Willie Obiano. We strongly believe that Obiano will justify the enormous confidence Anambrarians, indeed Nigerians reposed in him. We have no doubt that he will faithfully execute his 4-Cs administrative policy of continue, complete, commission and commencement of new projects. We are impressed by this tactical strategic initiative of projects implementation and continuity. It is the hallmark of progressive governance which only an APGA government will execute. The Nigerian landscape is littered with abandoned projects that would have touched the lives of the citizenry but abandoned by successive governments for mundane quasi political considerations.
We urge politicians to eschew violence and do-or-die politics. The era of politics with bitterness is gone with the outrageous godfatherism. Today, Anambrarians are wiser, will vote according to their conscience and protect their votes as power resides in the people. We urge INEC to provide a level playing field for the 23 political parties contesting the election. The need for a free, fair, credible, transparent and acceptable election cannot be over-emphasized. Nigerians expect the best in the 16th November governorship election which will showcase INEC’s readiness to conduct the 2015 presidential election. The whole world is watching us.
