As political parties walk around the clock to put their various houses in order ahead of the 2015 general elections, over 5,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) across the 13 wards in Isoko North local government area of Delta state on Sunday cross carpeted enmass to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Presenting the decampees to the party leaders in Isoko North local government area, chairman of PDP Isoko North, Mr. Daniel Tutumor told the leaders and the mammoth crowd that the decampees who made up the 13 wards in the council were all former members of the party before leaving the party out of one grievances or the other.
According to Tutumor, having discovered that there’s no place like home, the decampees decided to return to where they belong and where their future is guaranteed.
Naming the wards to include Ozoro ward 1, 2 and 3, Oyede, Ofagbe, Okpe-Isoko, Emevor, Owhe, Otibio, Ellu/Ovrode/Aradhe wards among others, the local government party chairman, however commended decampees for returning to join the moving train.
Receiving the decampees, the Secretary to the Delta State Government, SSG, Comrade Ovuozorie Macaulay while welcoming the decampees back to the party, commended them and assured them of equal treatment in the scheme of things as full members of the party.
Comrade Macaulay however noted that the decampees having retraced their steps decided on their own to stage a comeback to the party they once worked for.
“On behalf of the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the state party chairman, Barrister Peter Nwaoboshi, I welcome you all back to the party. Today is one of our greatest day you can record in the history of PDP in Isoko North. Over 80 percent of the people you are seeing here were once members of the PDP but because of one grievances or the other they left and today they have all returned to their party.”
Speaking at the occasion, one of the decampees and founding members of PDP who left the party himself and eight others founded in the state, Hon Philip Adheke lamented the situation where the interest of the party have been dropped for personal and individuals interest stressing that should things goes wrong again, he will not hesitate to take a bow from the party again.
“Myself and my followers have fully returned to the party we founded. I was on sabbatical leave before but now I have fully returned to my party.
Also speaking, Mr. Lawrence Ofebe, Tobi, James Akporero and Gabriel Alebe who led their followers to stage a comeback to the party thanked and commended all and sundry who made it possible for event to be a successful one especially, Comrade Macaulay, Hon. Ogor, Hon. Okoro and others.
