Cross River State Government has described as a tissue of lies, a report by crossriverwatch that it has awarded a N20 million contract to Educom Solutions, an Indian firm, to recruit teachers for the state.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary and SA Media to Governor Liyel Imoke, Mr. Christian Ita said there is no iota of truth in the report.
The statement stated that the state government recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian firm to partner with it in driving the state’s e-learning programme for schools in the state.
“An MoU was signed by the state and the Indian firm to provide both digital and non-digital products and solutions for the state’s e-learning programme. An MoU never requires payment.”
The statement further clarified that while Educom, as part of its responsibility to the state, has agreed in principle to assist with the teachers recruitment exercise, no contract has been awarded to them and as such no fee or payment has been made to the Indian firm.
The statement said the report has further confirmed crossriverwatch as medium that has scant regard for facts as long as it suits the purpose of its paymasters.
The statement challenged the news portal, to make public, the contract papers.
“Failing to do so will further confirm crossriverwtach’s inglorious reputation as a medium that thrives on blackmail”, the statement concluded.
