An Abia State Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ugwunagbo Local council of, Abia State, presided over by Grace Ukeje has remanded two suspects in prison over alleged attack on a police station..
The suspects Chineye Onyeibe (32 yrs) and Alozie Obioha (19yrs) were alleged to have invaded Umuogele Police Station Aba on September 3 2013 were they aided the escape of an armed robbery suspect, Uche Njoku from detention.
The duo docked on a 7 count charge which includes conspiracy to commit felony among others, were also accused of threatening the life of ASP Ambrose Ihentu and other policemen on duty at Umuogele Police Station. They were also accused of murdering a commercial tricycle operator, Felix Njoku before taking away his tricycle on April 19 2013 at Osusu, Umuelendu Village in Ugwunagbo LGA.
247ureports.com gathered that on the day of the said attack on Umuogele Police Station, Onyeibe and his gang threatened to kill ASP. Ihentu and other officers on duty, if they fail to release Nwoke.
They were said to have later carted away from the police station, a tricycle said to be under police investigation for armed robbery with registration number, QV 064 UMA.
The prosecutor, Inspector Alozie told the court that police investigations revealed that Onyeibe and Obioha forged purchase receipts of ZIMEA NIG LTD ABA and NNA-VIC-GLOBAL UNIQUE LTD ABA of no 55 Hospital road, Aba to secure a new registration plate number for the stolen tricycles.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the 7 count charges. The presiding Magistrate, Ukeje ordered that the case file be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice and adjourned to 24th January, 2014.
