A socio political group, Igbo Information Network (IIN) has commended Gov. Theodore Orji for his resolve to hand over power to the people of Ukwa/ Ngwa zone in 2015.

In a communiquรฉ issued at the end of its meeting in Aba, signed by its National Chairman, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the group said the governorโ€™s decision to back the Ukwa/ Ngwa zone portrays him as a man of justice who has the interest of the state at heart.

โ€œGov. Theodore Orji deserves commendation for his sense of justice. The Ukwa/ Ngwa zone has not held power since the creation of the state. Only a lover of justice like him could have made such decision to enthrone fairplay. He has been drumming into the ears of the people that he will hand over to an Ukwa/ Ngwa son in 2015.I think he should be commended for setting this example.โ€

He called on the people of the zone to support the governor in his efforts to transform the state.

On the likely successors to the governor, the group called on the present political office holders from the area to steer clear of the governorship race as most of them have failed to represent the interest of the zone since they were elected.

โ€œWe are calling on political office holders from Ukwa/ Ngwa zone to steer clear of the Abia governorship race in 2015. Most of them have done nothing for the zone since they assumed office. Our position is that the race should be for men and women of proven integrity who would not toy with the interest of the state. Ukwa/Ngwa people must ask question about their representatives who they gave their mandate since 2015 because most of them are already scheming for governorship when they have failed the people,โ€ the group alleged.
