Abia state government says it would continue to sustain its support for the police to enable it combat criminals in the state.
Gov. Theodore Orji who disclosed this at the commissioning of the newly built Clinic/maternity at the MOPOL 55 Squadron, Unity Garden Estate, Osisioma Ngwa , Aba said his government placed much premium on the health care needs of the residents of the state.
Orji who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa commended the state commissioner of police, Alhaji Usman Tilli Abubakar and Commander of the Squadron, SP Wilson Dankwano for their efforts in completing the clinic.
He assured that the state government is determined to assist the police in its effort to rid the state of criminals.
“We will continue to support the police to maintain security. Abia cannot go back to the dark days of security quagmire of the past .This is why we have invested so much in the area of donation of patrol vehicles and communication gadgets to the police. We commend the police for rising up to the challenges.”
In his speech, Squadron Commander, MOPOL 55, SP Wilson Dankwano commended the Abia state government for its support to the police, stressing that such was responsible for the timely completion of the clinic.
He stated that the clinic which boasts of 8 beds in the general ward, 2 in the VIP ward, pharmacy, consulting room, reception and theatre/labor room, has been rendering free medical services to the men f the squadron and communities around the Estate and environs.
Dankwano further appealed to the Abia state government to assist the squadron over its challenges which includes accommodation, inadequate patrol vehicles and communication gadgets.
