The Bayelsa state Police Command has arrested two persons who were suspected to be involved in the kidnap of an elder sister to the Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial district,Senator Heineken Lokpobiri from Ekeremor Local Government Area of the State.
The Police added that the kidnapped sister of the Senator, identified as Mrs.Felicia Ammassoma,was kidnapped two weeks ago and released last Saturday, but did not however confirm if ransom was paid before her release.
The Spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Command,Mr.Alex Akhigbe,while speaking with news men in Yenagoa yesterday, argued that the abduction, which occurred in the early week of September,have led to the arrest of two persons.
According to Akhigbe,”she was abducted and the police acted swiftly and apprehended two of the suspects while the third is at large.”
Akhigbe further stated that the abducted Senator’s sister,who is a trader on fairly-used clothing,was lured by his abductors at Ekeremor Town and taken to an undisclosed location between Delta and Bayelsa.
Militancy and criminal activities seems to be coming back to Yenagoa, Bayelsa state capital following what many refer to as Economic hardship which is currently biting on the people of the state.
