Despite what many consider are political crisis across the country, especially with recent developments within the ranks of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters Ahmed Gulak has dispelled fears that Nigeria is in political crises.
Gulak who is also the National Coordinator, Goodluck Support Group (GSG), maintained that in spite of what is happening around, President Goodluck Jonathan remains focused on delivering on his transformation agenda and was not in any way distracted.
Speaking while inaugurating the United States of America chapter of the GSG in New York, Gulak stated that while the President has not decided to seek re-election, he has constitutional right to contest for a second term in office.
He disclosed that the present task of the GSG is to propagate the transformation agenda of the present administration and the achievements already made in every sector, adding that despite challenges, a lot has been achieved in all the sectors. He listed such as including rail transportation, aviation, agriculture, trade, health and education amongst others.
“The President has ensured a level playing field for all politicians in Nigeria because of his belief in fairness and equity and the opportunity should not be misused to overheat the polity,” the presidential aide said.
He called on Nigerians in Diaspora to support the transformation agenda and not to be discouraged by orchestrated messages by the opposition parties.
“It was not enough for us in GSG to support the President to win elections, but we must also propagate his achievements and the transformation agenda. If the President makes up his mind to contest again, we would again be there to support him,” Gulak assured.
He further explained that the duty of the GSG in Diaspora is to ensure that Nigerians abroad get up to date information about the activities of the President and the achievements of his administration, while encouraging them to come home to participate in making Nigeria greater.
Responding, the US coordinator, Chief Temitope Ajayi (aka Mama Diaspora) pledged to engage all Nigerians in propagating the ideals of the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
