• As APC charges National Committee with free,fair elections
Gov Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday emphatically declared that the battle for Anambra State gubernatorial seat this year is between Senator Dr Chris Ngige on one side and Abuja on the other insisting that victory must go to the people and not to Abuja.
Okorocha spoke at the inauguration of the National Committee for Senator Chris Ngige Campaign held at Emmaus House,Awka.
Former National Secretary and one-time governorship candidate of the defunct All Nigerian People Party (ANPP) Chief George Muoghalu emerged as the Director-General of the Chris Ngige total campaign.
The main charge of the National Committee is to ensure free and fair elctions on November 16, 2013.
All named as members of the National Campaign Committee included Dr. Nyerere Anyim (National Vice Chairman), Barrister Sharon Ikeazor (National Women Leader), Lai Mohamed (National Publicity Secretary), Rt. Hon. Donatus Onyemenam (Deputy Speaker,Imo State),Barrister Ma Nwankwo, Hon. Uzoma Igbonwa (National Deputy Youth Leader) and Dame Mrs Ikedife and Mrs Tina Akonobi.
Others were Mrs Onyinye Okongwu, Olisaemeka Onyeka,Chibuzor Obiakor, Hon. Ralph Okeke, Arc. Okwy Adaogu, Chief Amechi Obidike, Engr. Barth Nwibe, Engr. Constance Ilo, chief Ben Oranusi, Bar. Nwankwo, Joe Anene, Hon. Olisa Agbakoba, Obegolu Richard and Hon. Calista Nweachukwu.
The rest included the four members of Anambra State House of Assembly : Kene Chukwuemeka (Awka South), Hon. Oebere Obi (Idemili South)m, Tony-One Week Muonagor (Idemili North), Dr . Emeka Aniebonam , as well 6 elders of the party from the three senatorial zones of the State.
Addressing the crowd, both Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha and APC flag bearer, Senator Chris Ngige vowed that the party would reclaim Anambra State and restore4 the lost past glory of the state.
Okorocha who is the leader of Ngige campaign with governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and Sani Al-Makura of Nassarawa State as co-leaders, said the race for Anambra State government House should be seen as that of Ngige and Abuja.
According to Okorocha, blamed the problems of Anambra State and crisis in political parties in the state to external influences saying Anambrarians should resist godfatherism and moneybags whom he said would always milk the state dry.
Ngige who spoke to the deafening noise of the tumultuous crowd noted that the call for voluntary donation to his campaign fund by the supporters and members of the public was unique and first time he was witnessing such, adding that he was encouraged by the gesture which he said was a consummation of contract between him and the electorates.
He was expressed happiness with what Imo state Okorocha is doing in his state assuring he would replicate similar revolution in the State.
Highlight of the event was the spontaneous rush to voluntary donation from the supporters and members of the public for the actualization of Ngige’s ambition to emerge as governor of the state come November 16, 2013 election.
A widow, Madam Esther Onoli who prayed over the monetary collection said that the token from the people would yield more money fr the election. In attendance at the event included Senator representative of governor of Osun State Aderemi Odugudu, Osita Izunaso, Lai Mohammed former House of Representatives member (Imo State) Hon.
