With the Abuja anchored disqualification of the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN], Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo from contesting the primary elections against the gubernatorial exercise of November 16, 2013 in Anambra under the All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA], the rumor mill had become active over the possible defection from the APGA to another party by Soludo to another more friendlier political party.

Some online Newspapers had published that the former CBN governor had abandoned the APGA to join the Peoples Democratic Movement [PDM] which was recently registered as a political party by associates of the former vice president of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku.

In talking with the media managers and close associates of the former CBN governor, it was understood that Prof Charles Soludo had made up his mind to remain a member of the APGA for the foreseeable future. According to one of the associates, “the Prof told us confidentially that he is not in no hurry to leave APGA”.

Regarding his joining the PDM, our correspondent reached out to Prof Soludo through sms, he denied that he had joined any party. He referred to the rumor as “wild speculations”.

Meanwhile, Prof Soludo remains in the battle to reach an honorable resolution to the ‘uncanny’ disqualification by the supposed 3-man screening panel of the APGA. Prof Soludo, as 247ureports.com gathered, may have filed multiple lawsuits seeking redress on the legality and/or constitutionality of his disqualification.
