The Buhari Vanguard and Gen Muhammed Buhari today presented awards to Mr Afolabi Jinoh Olawole, the PDP Councillorship candidate in Shawo South West Ward in Offa LGA of Kwara state who rejected the false victory given to him by KWASIEC after he lost the election as indicated by the collated results before him and the KWASIEC presiding officer,Mr Akeem Oyetunji who also insisted that the result announced by Kwasiec in favor of PDP was not the one he signed and collated.
The event which took place on Thursday, 12th of September,2013 at Gen Muhammad Buhari’s office in Kaduna was the first of its kind and shows a sign of good thing to come in Nigeria.
Both of them were given an award as “The Ambassadors of free and fare election. The certificate was signed by Gen Muhammadu Buhari and Com Jasper Azuatalam, the Chairman of Buhari Vanguard.
It would be recalled that, Mr. Afolabi Olawole, a councillorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Shawo South West ward in Offa Local Government of Kwara State, was reported to have rejected victory at the offa re-run election. Afolabi was declared winner of the ward election by the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission(KWASIEC) in Saturday’s rerun election.
Afolabi stated that, he did not win in the election.  the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Adefioye Kayode won the election.
He spoke during APC’s media briefing in Offa on Wednesday. He stated that he rejected his announced victory based on his religious belief of not cheating. He added that his stand was also to ensure that his community did not witness violence and retrogression. He stated that he was not influenced by anybody. Also one of the presiding officers, Oyetunji Akin said the APC won in the councillorship and chairmanship elections in Shaw Central ward where he presided.
KWASIEC had announced that PDP won the ward. According to him, APC polled 1,213 to defeat PDP he said had 568.
