• Berates APGA for learning from PDP

Once again we have reason to insist that scourge of double candidacy
invented by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under Obasanjo’s
leadership  and sustained by all PDP leaders till date, particularly
in Anambra State where it has become part of the party’s rigging
culture must be eliminated for Anambra State to consider the November
16,2013 gubernatorial  elections free and fair.
We are not deceived by the current drama going on in at least seven
courts nationwide regarding the two Aki and Paupaw candidates wilfully
produced by PDP for the November 16, gubernatorial race.
We encourage all voters in Anambra State to also avoid being deceived
because the PDP is running with the hare and chasing with the hounds
on the issue of candidates for the Anambra 2014 governorship
elections.
The parallel primaries that produced the two sub-standard candidates,
none of which Anambra State can entrust with power at this stage of
development was foreseeable and in fact foretold.
Twelve days before August 24 when these two under-qualified candidates
were produced, there were parallel Ward Congresses to produce the
delegates and the National leadership of the party was fully aware.
Yet, rather than act, they duplicitously guided two primaries to
produce two candidates to keep the back door open for manoeuvres,
while pretending to act.
We must not lose sight of the fact that this condemnable practice is
now getting emulated by such parties like APGA-PDP , who would rather
not oppose the immoral act of PDP by standing up against it, but
rather  have  taken the easy way our by joining in the PDP
double-swindle.
We note that this practice breeds so much tension that it is capable
of destabilising the state, which APC would rather like to see in
tranquillity in the election period, so that those who aspire to be
governor will have a state to lead.
To this end, APGA has deliberately arranged to produce two candidates
to the world, when in fact the two are products of the same parentage
intended to fraudulently maximise vote gathering in a particular
geographical area of the state.
We urge INEC to disqualify both candidates for any party that fields
more than one candidate and cannot resolve it by September 17, 2013,
deadline for, by fielding candidates.
This is without prejudice to any legitimate action APC may wish to
take in the circumstance to ensure that no party goes into the
gubernatorial elections with two candidates-a thriving method of
rigging in Anambra State.
For emphasis, we restate that  fielding  two candidates in November
16, 2013 gubernatorial elections remains unacceptable to APC  and
generality of Anambra State who have identified the party as the only
focused one to lead the state.
