The Peoples Democratic Party/s (PDP) 2014 Anambra state governorship candidate Comrade Tony Nwoye has described as mere fallacy and misleading the recent publications in some section of the national media which gave the impression that court has ordered the party to recognize Senator Andy Uba as the flag-bearer.
The refutal was coming at almost same time when members of Tony Nwoye Campaign Organization led by Chief Kenneth Arinze and the former Secretary to Anambra state Government, Prince Osita Ezenwa, Chief Keluo Molokwu and Chief Clems Ezika organized a news conference in Awka, refuting the same claim.
Chief Arinze refuted what he saw as Senator Andy Uba’s media reports which gave erroneous impression that the court has “made” him the 2014 Anambra state governorship candidate of the PDP.
Arinze who was the former Commissioner for Commerce and Industries of Anambra state pointed out that in the details of the court ruling, the court referred the parties to status quo. More so that the court never made reference to Uba as the party’s flagbearer. But stated that the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), should recognize Mr Ejike Oguebego led state executive instead of Prince Ken Emeakayi led executive.
He stated further that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) sent down Governor Shema, leading the Gombe state Governor Ibrahim Dankwanbo and the Senate Leader Victor Ndoma Egba panel to Awka to conduct the governorship primaries in Anambra state.
The entire primary process, he added was also transmitted live on National Television Authority (NTA) national and international channels for all to see, including Senator Uba, his cohorts and Oguebego.
Ezenwa in his presentation pointed out that primary was never conducted by Ken Emeakayi, as Arinze stressed that the party’s constitution never allows any state exco to organize or conduct Conventions or election Primaries of any type.
Chief Ezika, a legal practitioner and former chairman of Dunukofia LGA of the state observed that the same court earlier while vacating an earlier order on the matter noted that he cannot put nothing into nothing. He referred to the Senator Margery Okadigbo vs Chief John Emeka case which was decided in favour of Okadigbo who was product of Senator Joseph Waku PDP primary panel sent by the NWC of the party in 2011.
He emphasized also that the court in its ruling never described Senator Uba as the party’s candidate whatsoever.
