Uduaghan Congratulates Blessing Okagbare For Winning Silver Medal In Long Jump

Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, the Governor of Delta State, has congratulated Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare who won a silver medal in the Long Jump event of the 14th edition of the Athletics World Championships yesterday in Moscow Russia.

It was the first time a Nigerian would win a medal in the World Championships since 1999 when Gloria Alozie and Francis Obikwelu won silver and bronze in Hurdles and 200.m respectively in Spain.

“I congratulate you for this great honour that you have done for Nigeria. We are proud of you. I wish you luck in your remaining events,” Uduaghan told Blessing in a message he sent to the Nigerian delegation yesterday. He watched the events on television and monitored all Blessing’s jumps.

It will be recalled that Blessing Okagbare is one of the star athletes groomed by the Delta State Government and who are making waves in world athletics.
