Information reachingb247ureports.com from Port Harcourt indicates that unknown gun men shot the Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Hon. Fred Igwe.
Hon Igwe was shot today at minutes after 12:00 noon. He was said to have narrowly escaped death.
The police public relations officer in Rivers State confirmed the shooting. According to the police, Hon. Igwe was attacked by armed robbers along Eleme road in Port Harcourt. The police statement stated that Hon. Igwe was shot when he attempted to escape his vehicle. The said armed robbers did not steal anything from the Honorable Commissioner.
The wounded commissioner is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Port Harcourt.
