As cash, buses were donated to traditional rulers
Obio/Akpor Care-Taker chairman Hon. Chidordi Ogwurie Dike and Rivers state Chief of staff, chief Tony Okocha have asked traditional rulers in Obio/ Akpor local government council to throw their support to Rivers state governor, Rt Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.
Addressing the traditional rulers in Ikwerre Language in Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, during the presentation of Buses and cash worth of five hundred thousand naira on Friday, they informed the chiefs on issues behind the current political crisis rocking the state.
Asking the chiefs to ensure that they support governor Amaechi and neglect any negative gossip cable of destroying the administration of governor Amaechi.
On his part, the council chairman made it known to the chiefs that every parts of Obio/akpor has one way or the other benefited from governor Amaechi developmental programme.
However, the cash worth of five hundred thousand naira and buses were given to each of the three clans in the local government area which are Evo, Apara and Akpor.
Meanwhile, he further said that the cash donated to the traditional rulers is for registration of the cars and fueling.
The chairman promised the traditional rulers that as soon the committee constituted on bursary verification exercise complete its exercise, the council would commence payment immediately.
It would be recalled that for past eight years, the past administration denied Obio/Akpor students of their bursary allowance.
Speaking earlier, chairman of the occasion, Elder Wihioka Chidi thanked the chairman for providing such gesture to the chiefs and recognizing traditional stool, disclosing that traditional rulers in Obio/Akpor have never experience dividend of democracy even from the past administration.
Elder Chidi assured the chiefs that support from them would never be regretted and such support when afforded would be utilized to uplift Ikwerre to a better height.
