Senator Chris Ngige, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District and frontline candidate in the Anambra State gubernatorial elections has cancelled all appointments and departed to Lagos to visit Gov. Babatunde Fashola on the death of his father.
Ngige worse intervention brought kept the issue of returnee settlers from Lagos under control between Anambra and Lagos States, returned to his constituency from Lagos last week were he consulted with scores of Igbo groups ,including Aka Ikenga-a body of Igbo Intelligentsia ,whose president he was in mid nineteen nineties.
He later arranged an appointment for the leaders of Aka Ikenga to meet Gov Fashola and hold discussions.
However, the latest trip is however prompted by the announcement of the death of senior Fashola last night.
In his early telephone reaction Ngige urged Fashola to take heart and find consolation in the fact that he could be the one to bury his father and not the other way round.
Senator Ngige, while in Lagos will also seize the moment to condole with the Nigerian Union of Journalists who lost three National Officials in a motor accident while returning to Lagos from a national convention in Abuja.
Before departure to Lagos, Ngige had yesterday received the Major Donor’s Award from the Rotary Club International in Port Harcourt.
