Child abandoning and the issue of ritual activities has now taken new dimension in Jigawa state. Recently, Hisba command in the state arrested over 20 women commercial sex workers in some parts of the state. The police discovered a body of an unknown woman in Kazaure local government with her two year old baby beside her.
Today, the Nigerian security and civil defense corps in Jigawa state in the course of their duty discovered an abandoned newly baby born girl parked in a carton well dressed in a vest and covered with a wrapper alive. The child was discovered dumped at Shagari grave yard in Kazaure local government area of Jigawa state
The commandant of the Jigawa state civil defense commission confirmed the story adding that the child was already rushed to Kazaure general hospital for medical treatment.
He assured that investigation is still on to find the culprit – that his command is working hard to fish out the suspects.
Investigation compiled by our reporter gathered that numbers of unmarried women to be on the increase in the area due to increase of youth unemployment. Also, numbers of commercial sex workers parading the streets of the state disguised vendors – are on the increase.
