Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode is standing trial for a N230 million money laundering charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos and presided over by Justice Rita Ofilli-Ajumogobia.
The prosecution team is led by Festus Keyamo .
Counsel to the former minister is Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN) and Wale Akoni (SAN).
The anti-graft agency had on February 11, 2013 re-arraigned the former minister over alleged money laundering and financial impropriety to the tune of N230 million.
Fani-Kayode, who served as minister under ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, was arraigned on a 47-count charge before Justice Ajumogobia by the anti-graft agency.
The former minister’s re-arraignment was consequent upon the re-assignment of the case to another judge following the transfer of the former judge handling the matter out of the Lagos Judicial Division of the court.
The case was first handled by Justice Ramat Mohammed, and later Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako.
Precisely, Fani-Kayode was arraigned on December 23, 2008 before Justice Mohammed.
After Justice Mohammed was transferred out of Lagos, the case was re-assigned to Justice Murtala-Nyako.
Again, Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia took over the case following the transfer of Justice Murtala-Nyako out of Lagos.
