Tension, Confusion, late arrival of officials with materials and fracas best described the Chairmanship primaries election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and that of the All progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) election in most of the local government areas in Anambra state.

The same stories were told about primaries for candidates for Councillorship election which did not hold in many local government areas.

Accusations and counter accusations is trailing the entire exercise in all the local government areas in Anambra state.

It took the intervention of fierce looking police men to disperse the mob allegedly beating up opponents at Ezechima Primary school, venue of the PDP primaries in Onitsha South. Police shot severally into the air to disperse the crowd.

The same report was coming from Ekwueme Hall Nnewi as an Aspirant one Adinmachukwu led policemen to scatter the people waiting to be accredited. The police men allegedly shot severally into the air before succeeding to disperse the crowd.

Harold Ekwerekwu was declared winner by PDP against Agha Mba at Onitsha North of PDP after fracas but in Onitsha South Mrs Chukwuneke was picked as a consensus candidate of APGA while APGA Onitsha North is still ongoing as at 8 pm. The electoral officials came around 6 pm.

Ekwerekwu alleged that his opponent imported MASSOB to disrupt the primaries when he saw that he was winning.

APGA Chairman, Akunwata Mike Kwentor could not be reached as well as any of the factional PDP Chairmen .

APGA primaries were still going on as at 7:35 pm last night when our reporter monitored various local government areas including Dunukofia, Nnewi South and Nnewi North as well as Onitsha North.

Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Prof Chinyere Okunna told our correspondent that they just finished accreditation as at 7: 30 pm and were about to start voting to determine who their candidate would be out of the three they have before PHCN took away the light.

‘’They have just taken the Public power supply but we are waiting for it to be restored for us to start voting. We will vote to select one out of the three Aspirants and we are more than 300 voters.

At Nnewi Ekwueme hall , the PDP were in crisis even as there was open accusation that machineries were imported from Delta and Imo states but police overran the area.

Efforts to speak with PDP chairman in Nnewi , One Mr Okeke and APGA chairman one Ben Nnadi was not successful .

At Awka North the Political Adviser to the Governor , Mr Fidelis Okafor from Anambra East together with the Transition Committee Chairman and other stakeholders resolved to have a consensus for Awka North in the person of John Nwokoye from Achalla after long waiting for the authentic list for accreditation.

The Aspirants went into a closed door meeting before agreeing to that while the ward chairmen admitted that.

The same story came from Awka South and many other local government areas for APGA while crisis was purportedly reported about PDP.

The Labour party as well was marred by crisis but it could not be confirmed as at press time because of two factions of Labour party. Sam Oraegbunam could not be reached.
