The Jigawa state Hisba command has arrested 21people suspected to be commercial sex workers in larabar tambarin gwani of Dutse local government and chaichai village of Ringim local government area of Jigawa state.
The commandant of the Hisba commission in the state, Malam Saadu Aliyu Muhammed Galamawa disclosed this to our reporter shortly after parading the suspect before the upper Islamic sharia court in Dutse, the state capital. The suspects paraded in court include musician
of garaya music groups and females in connection with commercial sex.
Out of the 21 people arrested 10 were arrested in chaichai village in a house where they displayed their nudity while musicians played their instrument and groups of people played cards.
Out of the 10 people arrested, one person was released from the court based on
the report filed by the Hisba command that the person was accidentally arrested. According to the report, he was not among the suspect. Two other ladies were handed over to Kano Hisba command. They were discovered to hail from Ajingi local government area of Kano state.
Malam Saadu Aliyu Muhammed Galamawa added that the remaining 7 suspects were handed over to police by the court to continue investigation on the matter. Of which the court had given
directive to the police to bring the suspects back after they must have completed the investigation. Justice Aliyu Muhammed Abdullahi Hadejia ordered the police to remand the suspect in their custody.
He assured that as soon as they finish with the issue of commercial sex workers in the state, the hisba command will turn their attention on commercial food vendors who use the vendor business to engage in prostitution in disguise – especially in all the major town and urban centres in the state.
For larabar tambarin gwani where 11 people were arrested – eight suspects among the eleven people arrested were taken to prison and two other ladies were taken to their parents in basirka and gombe and the other ladies were taken to Lagos to her parents – while one man was released before the court based of his old age.
The commandant indicated they are now planning to arraign the house owner before Islamic sharia court for what he described as people who assist the commercial sex workers.
He confirmed that the epidemic of commercial sex workers had taken over larabar tambarin gwani and chaichai village of Ringim local government and dutse.
