One week after the proposed amendments to the 2013 Budget passed second reading at the House of Representatives, and was referred it to its committees on Finance and Appropriations for further work, the lawmakers on Thursday okayed the sum of N366,247,658,676 for the nation’s education sector under the recurrent (non-debt) expenditure.
The lawmakers, who resolved into the Committee of Supply to deliberate on the provisions of the bill, also okayed the sum of N304,913,982,304 for the defence, ministry of defence, army, air force and navy, while the sum of N300,478,387,312 was approved for police formation and commands.
While the total sum of N388,053,200,000 was set aside for statutory transfer, the total sum of N591,764,000,000 was earmarked for debt service.
Under the recurrent (non-debt) expenditure, ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) got the sum of N1,938,115,655,153, the federal executive bodies got the sum of N17,771,579,876; service-wide votes and pensions and service-wide votes got N143,236,495,795 and N316,622,241,988 allocations, respectively.
The capital expenditure saw the MDAs getting the sum of N1,047,696,097,714, N9,215,460,295 for the federal executive bodies, and N534,745,694,780 for capital supplementary.
The SURE-P got an allocation of N273,522,000,000.
