Imo Councillorship Aspirant Forum has condemned the attempted removal

of the Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker,Otelemaba Dan-Amachere

as unconstitutional.

In a statement signed by the chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Emereum made

available to newsmen in Owerri. The aborted attempt to remove the

Rivers State Speaker by a gang of five legislators backed by armed

thugs/cultists and Federal government approved security operatives is

unconstitutional and regrettable,as it violates section 92 (2) c of

the constitution which requires “the vote of not less than two third

majority of the members of the House of Assembly” which should be the

votes of not less than 22 members out of the 32 lawmakers.

The forum describes the action of the anti-Amaechi lawmakers as pure

rascality and admonished well-meaning Rivers people to stand by

Amaechi, whom was being persecuted for defending the State.

The forum calls on the House of Representative to immediately

intervene and avoid setting a wrong precedence for other state

legislatures. However the forum called for caution as any wrong step
taking in the cause of their intervention could spark up another round

of impasse for which posterity may remember us in bad light.
