Information available to 247ureports.com indicates that the Nasarawa state police command has launched a broad campaign against ritualists, kidnappers and armed robbers in the State. This is as the police command paraded a few suspects believed to be ritualists, kidnappers and other merchants of evil.
The state commissioner of police, Umar Shehu while parading the twenty (20) suspects of terrorism, said the Nigeria police will continue to arrest evil doers and their accomplices in the state. He said twenty (20) criminals, including armed robbers, kidnappers – handbag and handset
snatchers and transformer vandals were arrested at eight (8) different locations in the state.
Shehu pointed out that his men apprehended Monday Anthony of Asokoro, Abuja and one Fedelis of same address who conspired with another suspect popularly known as Dan-Nasarawa, to lure a lady to a party at Laminga in Nasarawa State, with the intension of killing her – using her for rituals.
The criminals had agreed to sell her head for N3 million – and according to Shehu, one of their sponsors was named as an Alhaji who resides in Nasarawa local government.
The commissioner of police said that since he resumed work forty five (45) days ago – that the force had embarked on a clampdown on armed robbery – leading to the substantial arrest of armed robbery suspects.
The commissioner said on June 8, a combined team of police and local vigilante while on patrol
arrested one Umar Mohammed of Waterside, Masaka and recovered one locally made pistol with five rounds of live ammunitions.
The commissioner listed some of the locations and hideout of the criminals to include Mararaba Akunza, Agyaragu, Lafia-Makurdi highway, Doma, Kokona and Keffi.
He also revealed that some of the kidnappers who were nabbed in Kokona Local Government – were demanding for ransom of N300,000 before they meet their waterloo. Another gang of
criminals terrorizing the people of Keffi were arrested after a gun-duel with security
operatives.
The commissioner continued to add that the arrested suspect had confessed to belonging to a gang that specializes in snatching women’s handbag and handsets.
One of the paraded suspects by name – Baba Sule of Lafia was caught vandalizing a
transformer located at Tudun Laraba area, Doma local government area of the
state. The suspect told police that he usually sells the wire and armored cables he stole from vandalized transformers to buyers whom he named as Gambo Musa, Mustapha Tahir, Awalu Umar, Muttaka Abdullahi – all of Sabon Pegi, Lafia.
