Safiyanu Rabiu Garba,Senior Special Adviser to Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura on Ramadan package has confirmed the rejection of Ramadan gift given to members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly yesterday.
The SSA said he was alerted that the lawmakers turned down the gift of one bag of rice and a bag of sugar accord to them.
One of the lawmakers who pleaded anonymity affirmed that the leadership of the House directed the Clerk of the House, Ego Maikeffi to return the offer. The impeccable source revealed that the lawmakers rejected the Ramadan gift because it was nothing to write home about.”Imagine a whole Honorable member given one bag of rice and sugar each as Ramadan souvenir.”
But the majority leader of the House of Assembly, Godiya Akwashiki who is the chairman House committee on welfare, in response indicated that he just returned from a foreign voyage and was not in true picture of what happens.
It would be recalled that the lawmakers had turned down the invitation for fast breaking dinner last year.
