The National Coordinator of Northern Politicians, Academician and Professional Businessman [CNAPAPB] Dr. Junaid Muhammed has called on the Governors to come out and declare their stand on President Jonathan. He made the call especially the PDP governors.
In talking to 247ureports.com, Dr. Junaid Muhammed maintained that “this is beyond the issue of Ameachi and the issue of majority rule, they must also come out clear whether they are still ready to support this President despite what he has been doing to democracy, the rule of law and the terrible corruption and the collapse of the national economy despite the ghost we are being told about and nobody sees any ghost“.
He also called on National Assembly to institute a powerful investigative panel made of only by the principal officers to fly into Port Harcourt and come back and draw up articles for impeachment and proceed to impeach president Goodluck “as he is behind what happened“.
“This is very important if they want democracy to survive I want to draw the attention of the political class when there is a breakdown of law and order it is not only the Government in power that suffers in the event of a government collapsing“.
In a related development the Jigawa state chapter of the People Democratic Party (PDP) condemned the political crises and fracas in the River state house of Assembly saying “it is real unfortunate and quick attention is needed to save the situation“.
The condemnation was made through the state’s branch Chairman, Alhaji Salisu Mamuda while answering question from news men at Dutse capital city of the state. He said “the action is a threat to the country’s young democracy“.
Alhaji Salisu Mamuda explained that “in whatever situation, there is a legal way and process to achieving the objective, democracy is a free and fair way of doing things for any citizen through legal process as guided by constitutional provisions“.
The PDP chairman noted that “what really happened was unfortunate, whatt happened in the assembly floor where laws are made, people expecting laws that would transform their social and economic lives, turn to be law breaking and boxing complex“.
According to the PDP chairman, “in my opinion as the Jigawa state PDP chairman, this is an embarrassment, is totally against the law and democracy process that may lead to Nigerians losing confidence to some leaders and even democracy“.
