*as LP stakeholders brainstorm on LG polls
The frontline Labour Party governorship aspirant and an industrialist, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah has expressed palpable fears that Anambra state may be swallowed up by earthquake if the government fails to halt the unbridled tempo of sinking of boreholes currently going on.
he lamented that the failure of the state government to provide portable water for the citizens in the face of biting scarcity has forced them into the sinking of boreholes at every corner all over the state.
According to him, this has therefore exposed the entire geography of the erosion-ravaged state to severe threat of a man-induced earthquake.
Dr Ubah who disclosed this in an address to LP stakeholders yesterday at a rally at the Beverly Hills Hotels, Nnewi, where they met to fashion way forward for the party’s Local Government chairmanship and councillorship aspirants for the forthcoming council polls, said the party would field candidates in all positions within the 21 councils in the state. He’s very optimistic for a landslide victory even in the face of likely stiff opposition from APGA, PDP and APC.
The capital Oil boss emphasized on the need for return to basics, pointing out that the electorates have in the past voted parties with all manner of inanimate symbols like cockerel, corn and broom, but have been disappointed as many times. So he urged them to make a remarkable difference this time by voting for the LP, a party with human symbol, human face, feelings and face so as to have a responsive, transparent and accountable leadership.
The chairman of the occasion, chief Dan Ulasi noted that Dr Ubah is a very humane and courageous fellow who was out to save the people. He prayed for a landslide victory for the party.
Dr Emeka Eze stated that thousands of decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party, Action Congress of Nigeria and the All Progressives Grand Alliance attended the rally to join the new LP movement driven by Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation have chosen a part of wisdom and courage.
He took time out to list out most outstanding programmes he has undertaken.
The rally was also used to flag-off the foundation in the 326 electoral wards in the state.
