All Progressive Congress (APC) has asked all its aspirants for Local Government Chairmanship and councillorship positions to mobilise for total victory in the October 5, 2013 Local Council polls, the megaparty will not accept any other cancellation of the LG polls.
APC is a mega party comprising the merger of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Congress of Progressive Change (CPC ), All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) and a faction of the All Progressive Grand Alliance led by Gov Rochas Okorocha. Said the council poll victory is a prelude to offering excellent governance to Anambra State at all levels, even as the mega party undergoing registration announced that ‘it is only a matter of days before our party is certified’.
The party also charged it members to brace up to closely monitor every stage of the INEC–organised Review of Voters Register scheduled for mid-next month to ensure that the exercise goes by the rules and forestall any artificial impediment to the party taking over governance at the state level in March next year based on the November 16, 2013 gubernatorial elections.
Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) leader in the South East, and senator representing Anambra Central in the National Assembly Senator (Dr) Chris Ngige who gave this charge at Igwebuike Primary School Abagana, at the weekend, while speaking to constituency members and party supporters in the second of the three-part constituency visit to cover the third quarter of the year.
The first took place in Idemili federal constituency on July 6, 2013. Ngige Senator Ngige former governor of Anambra State from (2003 to 2006) seized the thanked the people of Njikoka-Anaocha-Dunikofia federal constituency for voting him into the Senate in 2011, along with Idemili and Awka federal constituencies that make up his Senatorial zone.

The Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power also took stock of his stewardship in the senate with specific emphasis on its impact to the people of Njikoka-Dunukofia-Aniocha Federal Constituency.
According to Ngige, in addition of the legislative work with which he has been uplifting the people of the State he also embarked on such constituency projects as Classroom blocks constructed in Umunachi, the comprehensive transformer works, street lights, boreholes and vocational erected in parts of the federal constituency speak volumes about what t Field, avenue of the constituency visit of the Senator.
Ngige stopped short of declaring his ambition to return to the government House in Awka in March next year.
But speaker after speaker before him called on all members of the federal constituency to return Ngige to the government House Awka as governor in the November 16, gubernatorial elections in Anambra State.
Former Anambra State Commissioner for Information , Chief Charles Amilo noted that the coming of Ngige to power in what he decribed as his first ‘missionary journey’ was like the coming of Jonah to Ninive.‘The same way Jonah was swallowed by a shark and did not have control over his destination , was the way Ngige was swallowed by a proverbial shark and vomited in Awka , before God used him to perform wonders in the state’
Going further,: ‘Do you know why Paul embarked on a second missionary journey? Amilo asked rhetorically’ ‘there was a huge cry from the early Christians converted in his first missionary journey, particularly those that the pillars of Christianity he erected where being destroyed so the people shouted ‘’ come over to Macedonia’’.
That Macedonia is the Anambra State of today where all the beautiful strong pillars erected by Ngige in three years have been pulled down and the people are wailing.
He therefore called on the people of Anambra State to heed the call and support Ngige in his bid to give Anambra a new orientation in March.
Dozie Ikedife (junior) called on the people of Anambra State to look beyond the coming governorship election which according to him the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Anambra ‘should give to Chris Ngige based on reason and wisdom’ and look at the selection of a first eleven from the South East APC, with the captains band entrusted upon Ngige to take the Ndigbo back to the centre of Nigeria, starting from November 16.’
APGA Chieftain, Chief George Ozodinobi noted that Ngige is the only one aspiring to the seat of governorship now that can be trusted with the finances of the state.
Chairman of the Multiparty Coalition for Ngige 2014,in and former Vice Chairman of the PDP,Chief Ben Oranusi, who used the occasion to reaffirm the support of a rainbow coalition of a rainbow coalition of past office holders from PDP,APGA,Accord Party, Labour Party,APC and PPA ,urging all to obey the clarion call and return Ngige to Anambra State government House for the good of the state.
Chairman of Health Committee in the Anambra State House of Assembly Dr Emeka Anaebonam assured all that Onitsha South who he represents in the Anambra State House of Assembly is already won by Ngige before the election leaving 20 other local government areas.
The charge by Ngige on Local government elections reaffirms the position of the party on LG polls putting a stamp and seal on the October 5 polls. If successful, the LG polls will break a 14-year jinx of the state. The last election was held in 1998.
However ex-Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme of PDP and Campaign for Democracy (CD) have expressed their opposition against the elections on based on timing, while the former Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Prof Titus Eze, Labour Party, the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) are opposed to the constitutionality of the elections, given that the Board of INEC is yet to be reconstituted.
