Information available to 247ureports.com indicates that the five lawmakers against Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi have accused him of leading thugs to the Rivers State House of Assembly complex.
One of the lawmakers, that they picked as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Evans Bipi said he was disappointed over the refusal of the state police command to allow him enter the Assembly complex.
He said he was duly elected as speaker, and had gone to the complex to start functioning as speaker, but was surprised to meet Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. He accused the Governor of spearheading a media war to deceive the people of the state.
“I was duly elected yesterday as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. I came in today to resume normal duties as Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly only to meet Amaechi and his police people there. I was so embarrassed,” he said, and advised his supporters to be law abiding.
“I just want Nigeria to know that whatever they see on the screen, they should just disregard it. That is the work of Amaechi because he likes using money for publicity. The truth remains that Rivers people do not want Governor Rotimi Amaechi anymore.
“We (referring to his group) do not want governor Amaechi any longer. Look at the police right in front of Government House stopping me to resume my legislative duties. Let them see, I am duly elected as Speaker Rivers State House of Assembly; why is Amaechi stopping me to perform my legislative duties. Nemesis will not forgive him (Amaechi).
Another member of the G5, Hon. Victor Ihunwo, who represents Port Harcourt Constituency III, addressed Bipi as speaker, dismissed a comment credited to Hon. Tonye Harry that the House would sit yesterday under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Otelemabama Daniel Amachree.
“Thank God Mr. Speaker (Bipi) is here. If not for the fact that Governor Amaechi had stopped him with his policemen and his thug. And I want to say categorically to the world that what Amaechi portray himself to the world is not what he is. People in Lagos, people in Kwara wherever they are, he portray himself as a saint. Before they talk, let them come to Rivers state.
