Arewa Youth Assembly said it is searching throughout the north for a
Presidential candidate; still there is no credible person yet to
contest for the exalted seat at the moment considering the fact that
many of those clamoring for the position now had supported the
quashing of the zoning formula in the past.
Addressing journalists yesterday in Dutse, the leader of the delegation Comrade Ibrahim Waiya condemned in strong term the current
position of some governors in the north on the presidential zoning
formula where they are seeking the support of other northerners to
solidify their ambitions.
According to Comrade Waiya that presently they had meeting with most
18 governors in the north including Sule Lamido on the zoning formula which they all agreed that this is the time for the region to get back
its mandate, which eluded in 2011 after the death of the former
president Umar Musa Yaradua.
Stressing that, “especially Governor Sule Lamido who was earlier in
2011 was in support of the zoning formula, but only for him to back
slide later to be supporting those that were against the zoning
formula, he became the supporter of the current president, Goodluck
Jonathan even at the detriment of the north and now because he has the
interest he wants people to support his candidature, this is a
laughing matter”.
However, Comrade Waiya explained that at the moment they are still
searching for credible candidate that the entire north can relay on,
“not those that appeared to be deceitful in their conduct in the past,
that is why we are going round the entire north and be educating
people on the need to have a credible candidate, we are not
politicians but we are at the position to enlighten our people to know
the right person that can lead the country from the north”.
“So we feel these kind of people are just political harlot,
prostitutes who all the times trade on our own rights and at the same
time bargains on our own behalf, this time it is not going to happen,
the way they used to do when they go to Abuja, bargains with others on
our behalf, the entire youths in the north are going to converge in
Abuja and tell the world what we want”, he concluded.
