The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has called upon believers to come out of hiding and participate in active politics in order to change the state of affairs in Nigeria. This was a clarion call given by the president of PFN, Enugu State Chapter, Bishop Obi Onubogu at the award given ceremony to distinguished Pentecostals in politics held over the weekend at Rock Cathedral, Enugu. The Bishop stated that good governance is a combination of state and religion and asked those in government to realize that they will give account of their stewardship to God.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Vice President South East of PFN and General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church Nigeria, Rev Prof Paul Emeka in his sermon titled ‘fear not’ encouraged those in government not to fear because nobody can remove them where God placed them. He enjoined them to look at and have recourse to the array of protection they have in God when faced with challenges .

Apostle Ajujungwa, Secretary of CAN stressed that politics is not a dirty game but when dirty persons play it , it becomes dirty. He called on all PFN members in the state which he claimed has voting strength running into hundreds of thousands to get voters card and be prepared to effect change in the upcoming elections.

The Commissioner of Chieftaincy Affairs and a pastor with Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mr Matthew Abugu, in a lecture he delivered stated that Christians should not fold their arms and allow evil men to take over politics. The Commissioner stated that being a Christian in government is not easy and expressed that he has resisted numerous attempts to bribe him. He described Governor Chime as example of a good leader whose policies is helping the progress of the state.
Apostle Pius Chimereze who was appointed a traditional ruler by his townsmen in Ezeagu was specially recognized and PFN promised to be part of his incoming coronation ceremony. They encouraged the cleric turned traditional ruler to be a good example.

Recepients of different categories of awards include Chief Sam Onyisi, MD of Peace Mass Transit, Barrister Eugene Odoh, Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Chief Mrs Ifeoma Nwobodo, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Matthew Abugu, Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Pastor Dan Beloved,Commissioner for Inter Governmental Matters among others. Some guests at the occassion include Bishop Prof David Eberechukwu, Rev Prof Paul Emeka,Rev Obinna Akukwe, Rev Johnny Onyeizu

It would be recalled that many PFN leaders had earlier made a mockery of Pastor Chris Okotie when he ventured into the presidential race in 2003 and 2007 and failed . The same persons condemned Pastor Tunde Bakare when he became presidential running mate to Buhari. Now the Christian body has suddenly realized that good people should participate in politics for the Kingdom of God to reign.
