Information Minister Mr. Labaran Maku has urged the widows of the slain police officers in Nasarawa State to take solace in God and pray for His guidance and protection.  He made the remarks in Lafia in company of his wife, Mrs. Mary Maku during a visit to the widows at the State Police Command Headquarters.

Mr. Maku said the circumstance their spouses died was very painful but urged them to adjust to their new status and seek comfort in God to strengthen them to take care of their children.

He donated N2 million to the widows and promised to mobilise other people of goodwill to assist by providing support for the widows.

“This is the beginning, we will continue to relate to them; we will also open a book for those who are our friends in the system to continue to give support.  We will never forget these people because their husbands died in active duty for the people of Nigeria”, he said.

In her remarks, Mrs. Mary Maku said they came to encourage the women not to be disillusioned by the fate that befell them but to be focussed for the sake of their children as the new heads of the families.

“We are all bitter about what has happened.  What have we to say than to say thank you Jesus because the Bible says it mustn’t be good before you say thank you.  Whichever way the Lord has done, we give Him all the glory”, she stated.

The Nasarawa State Police Commissioner, Umar Shehu thanked the Minister for the kind gesture.
