An eight year old school girl, Chidera Ikonne, who was abducted by unknown gunmen at the gate of her school in Aba, has been found at Umuosu-Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North local government area of Abia State.

An associate of the Ikonnes who preferred anonymity hinted that the entire family were grateful to God to have their kidnapped child back alive and described the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and eventual reunion with her family as miraculous.

“Her disappearance and eventual reunion with us is miraculous. It is not everybody would be abducted and released unhurt. It looks like a fairy tale, but it is true that she was abducted and she is with us and everybody is happy. Chidera, while she waiting for her brother Nzubechi in front of their school gate at Anointed Kiddies International School, Ogbor-Hill, Aba so that they can go home after they dismissed from school, said she was approached by a man who came pointing a gun at her and threatened to kill her if she tried raising alarm.

“She said they later blindfolded her and was whisked away to unknown destination together with other children and some pregnant women who were already in the custody of her abductors.”

Chidera who is the daughter of a retired police officer, Peter Ikonne, was said to have been abandoned by her abductors at Umuosu-Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North local government while they sped off with other victims including the pregnant women and children.

247ureports.com gathered that a good Samaritan who saw Chidera in her condition assisted to untie her and took her to the Pacesetter Radio station in Umuahia where her parents later came to pick her.

Abia State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed that the Radio station notified the command about a missing girl who was brought to their station, adding that as at press time, the family was yet to make official report to the police about their missing daughter.

Ogbonna said that Chidera had since been reunited with her family. Efforts made to reach the parents of the girl did not yield fruit as the family chose to keep sealed lips on the matter.
