The Jigawa state Government has yesterday announced the ban of street begging across the entire communities of the state.

This was disclosed by the chairman Dutse local government Alhaji Abdulaziz Dankofa during the opening ceremony of the disbursement of Zakka at the Dutse Emirs palace, said a circular to that effect has been released from the office of the Secretary to the State Government.

He declared that, it is embarrassing for this state and the nation in general to see youthful people begging for alms at designated points like fuel stations, food joints soliciting for alms.

The Chairman said the state government has discovered with dismay that most of those committing the act are coming from outside the state adding that, “we would no longer condone the attitude and warned those perpetuating the act to desist or face the wrath of the law”, he said.

He also maintained that, some have even made it as a form of business while roaming from office to office lodging complaints to office holders whom in the end are being forced to part away with some money.

While making his comment, the Emir of Dutse Alhaji Muhammadu Nuhu Sunusi said Zakka worth N149, 582, 593.00 million naira have been collected and would be shared to 21,622 needy persons.
