The Inspector General of Police anti-robbery squad led by the
Ali Kwara Azare has stormed Jigawa state arresting five armed robbers
operating along the major roads linking Jigawa, Bauchi, Yobe, Gombe and Adamawa states.
While Parading the suspects before handing them over to the Jigawa
state police command, the team leader Alh, Ali Kwara stressed that he
volunteered to be apprehending the armed robbers along that axis
simply base on Governor Sule Lamido’s request to eradicate criminals in
the state.
Ali kwara expressed concern over the alleged bad attitude of some Judges who he claims were responsible for releasing the arm robbers after arrest.
In his words, “because I had arrested many of them and they were released by either the police or from the courts by lawyers and judges, so but because the Governor here, though I am not used to him, but he asked me to do the job and I heard that he manage enough to handle all the situations otherwise I would not have bordered myself, as other Governors have disappointed me”.
He further disclosed that some of the armed robbers, after robbing their victims, would beat them up and rape their wives. This, he stated occurs in Gadan Maiwa, Sara and Killa towns. He pointing out that, some of them were arrested by him before, but were released and were re-arrested again for the second time, which signified that some law enforcement agents are
behind such operations by armed robbers.
“that is why each arrest on the armed robbers I make, I want Governor Lamido to know before handing them over to the police for prosecution, to avoid anything that would
warrant the armed robbers to be set free by the law enforcements agents, lawyers or the authorities concerned”.
Meanwhile, one of the rape victims of the armed robbers shared his ordeal with 247ureports.com. His wife was raped by the armed robbers. He said “they came around 1:30 am and asked all of us to give them money or they would kill us, and after carrying out their dastardly act they raped my wife and left with many valuables”.
The gang leader of the armed robbers, whose name is Baushe said
he was forced to join the armed robbery due to economic hardship. He
explained “my profession is hunting, but when I started armed robbery my mother was so bitter about it because I am the only child she has, I quitted before but returned back later, that is why I was arrested”.
