Yonana iliya, The Nasarawa state chairman of the opposition party in the state, The People’s Democratic Party has snubbed the ruling party in the state, The Congress for Progressive Change administration under the leadership of the state Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura – as a total disappointment to the generality of Nasarawa indigents.
The PDP big wig gave the disclosure at a press conference held today at the state secretariat of the party,Iliya attributed liars, Mal-administration, poverty and wanton killings as the main features and tenet of the ruling CPC in the last two (2) ,The chairman said the seven Hundred and Thirty (730) days of the Government of the day as a total sham.
According to him, “The victory of CPC in 2011 Governorship election is nothing more than a stolen mandate, Adding that Al-Makura has nothing to offer the people of the state, He further said the Governor lacks the willpower to effect changes which he claimed to be his watchword”, Iliya averred that the promises are mere statement that did not coincide with what is obtainable in the state.
Who is the Governor of the masses (Gwannan Talakawa) meaning the people are Governor? Is it Al-Makura that hired chopper (helicopter) to traveled round the state that is the messiah?
“The cost of traveling with chopper by our assessment is equal to the fueling of One Hundred and Twenty (120) new Peugeot vehicle en –route to Abuja, who is suppressing who, The Governor or the masses?” Yonana Iliya further averred that the CPC regime is celebrating the achievement of the PDP, He added that, “all the projects the state Governor is celebrating and commissioning today are all the initiative of the then People’s Democratic Party” .
“Even the Lafia Township roads the present administration is boosting of is the initiative of the PDP, The roads are constructed from the Federal Government counterpart fund from the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) which projects is he commissioning and celebrating?” He also lamented the way and manner Governor Al-Makura sidelined some of the initative of the former PDP regime to include the neglect of Primary Health Care (PHC).
The state chairman chided the regime of Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for the unwholesome disregard of the free Medicare for expectant mothers, the aged and children below five (5) pioneered by the successive regimes under the auspices of the PDP, He also raised alarm over the mass failure of indigent students in the recent WAEC,NECO and Jamb to the way and manner the state Governor neglect the education sector.
“It’s unfortunate that our students cannot fill their quota in the nation’s Universities due to poor performance, Other lapses listed also include lack of Teachers’ welfare, delay in promotion, mass sacking of Local Government staff and inadequate funding of the state owned University, Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
He attributed the killings of students few months ago by security operatives to the non- nonchalant mind-set of the state Governor ,saying the Governor instead of pacifying the situation went ahead by causing untold hardship to the students, The state chairman of the PDP also lampooned Governor Al-Makura for the suspension of the beleaguered Management of the institution ,saying the Governor added salt to the unhealed wounds.
While speaking on the Agricultural sector, The state chairman deride the Governor for neglecting agriculture which he described as the mainstay of Nasarawa state, “The Governor has politicized agriculture, adding that core farmers were sidelined from the scheme of things, He listed some of the programs that suffers in the hands of Governor Al-Makura to Badakoshi, saying, A hungry population is an angry population.
Commenting on the recent visit of the Governor to Singapore, He described the voyage as a condescending venture, He however aver that the empowerment program under Governor Al-Makura is death before arrival,”CPC Government under Al-Makura lacks vision and mission,no new initiative ,saying Nasarawa under Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in tow (2) years is one step forward and many steps backward.
Other revelations also include the allocation of a mansion owned by Nasarawa state Government to his in-law; He said the said house was located along Ibrahim Taiwo road in Jos, Plateau state which was part of the access shared between Plateau and Nasarawa state, other areas the chairman spoke on is the scrapping of the state owned print media, Nigerian Newsday and Nasara Newspaper, The People’s Democratic Party also chided the sitting regime for the disappearance of N820m which was a monthly deduction from the staff salary.
On the mass killings of security operatives ,Yonana Iliya attributed the killings to the hand work of CPC,saying Al-Makura knows them and-should not hesitate to bring them to book.
