Anambra State Government will use the money it won from being the best State in immunization programme in the South-East to build 10 maternities in remote parts of the State. This was disclosed yesterday by Governor Peter Obi, during the flag-off of the National Obstetric Fistula Repair Programme at the Amaku Teaching Hospital, Awka. He said that the State had matched the 1 million dollars monetary award with 120 Million Naira for the project.
The Governor also flagged-off the fumigation exercise against mosquitoes in the State. He said the exercise was part of the State Government programme towards elimination of malaria. He called on the people of the State to corporate with those carrying out the fumigation exercise since it is for their own good.
In another development, the governor also flagged-off the construction of Hostel block at Anambra State Teaching Hospital. The project which will make it the 25th building Governor Obi has built in the hospital, will house medical students.
The representatives of the contractors handling the project, who are incidentally on the side of Victor Umeh in APGA crises, Chief Mike Kwentoh and Ifeanyi Udokwu (Ekwueme Ogidi) promised to deliver the project according to specifications.
Speaking to journalists, one of the contractors, Chief Udokwu said that the Gov. had continued to prove himself as a noble man. He said that even when some people wanted him to terminate the contract to punish them for being in the opposition, that the Governor declined insisting that fairness is fairness.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Lawrence Ikeakor said that the teaching hospital would soon become one of the best in the country in view of Governor Obi’s commitment to its development.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Anambra State University, Prof. Fidelis Okafor thanked the Governor for turning the State University ground. He invited the people to visit the campus of the University at Igbariam and witness the transformation going on there.
This a rubbish. Wasting our money on things that wont benefit the people and thereby making his fellow Idiots rich. Why not put that money on things like giving the less privilege the right to go to school. What are you fumigating, your head or your anus. Well the time has come for you to step down from that seat. You said that Education is not meant for the poor but i quote you wrong. Give a poor boy and your son or daughter a scholarship and i bet you that the poor boy will make it more than your coconut head daughter or son. Think twice but its late cos you wont get back to that seat. We have wasted this 8 years just like that even Virgy Etiaba would perform more than you no to talk of Ngige. Get lost my dear governor.
