Abia Vigilante Arrests Four Robbery Suspects In Aba

Abia State Vigilante Group (ASVG) has smashed an armed robbery gang who had been terrorizing residents of Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia state and arrested four of them.

The arrested suspects are Kingsley Alozie (26yr), Ifeanyi Elebeke (24), Ikenna Ikechukwu (22) and Offia Ugorji (24).

Items recovered from them include small and medium Dell Laptops, 50 inches LG television Plasma, Blackberry Phone, a digital Sony and Cannon cameras, one DVD writing Machine, 10 pieces of wrist watches, one T. Mobile Samsung Galaxy phone and assorted types of body perfumes, among other stolen items found in their possession.

Parading the suspects in Aba, ASVG Commander General, Martins Idika said at about 2 am on May 31, his men received distress call from residents of Umungasi axis of the city that the arrested persons were robbing them.

Idika said his men moved swiftly to the scene of the incident where the hoodlums were arrested after they were chased to a hotel at Umuehilegbu near Ariaria market.

“These hoodlums have been terrorizing residents of Umungasi, Ariaria, Bakassi, Umuehilegbu and their environs. Every night, members of the gang go from street to street robbing people of their property and raping some of their victims.”

Idika called on the youths in the area to be law abiding and desist from criminal activities, he restated the readiness of his group to rid the Aba of criminal elements to ensure that Abia state becomes crime free.

He disclosed that the suspects would soon be handed over to the police for further interrogation and possible prosecution.

Speaking with newsmen, those who were arrested admitted to the crime but blamed the devil for their action.
