Kano: May Day Procession Cancelled – Police Commissioner

The worker’s day celebration in Kano State may have become the latest casualty of the Jihadists based violence against the northern States of the federal republic of Nigeria. According to information made available to 247ureports.com, the Kano State Police Commissioner, Musa Daura, has acted to cancelled the worker’s day procession typically held on May 1, 2013 to earmark Worker’s Day. The Police top boss indicated that the cancellation came about for security reasons.

While talking to the press yesterday, April 30, 2013, in Kano, he assured the public that the police has placed their men in strategic positions to assure peaceful celebrations. He revealed also that restriction of vehicular movement will be put in place beginning 12midnigt.

The Police top boss acknowledged the tension amongst the citizenry owing to the increased spat of Jihadist based violence. But he encouraged the public to go about their Worker’s Day celebrations without worry. He also asked for the masses to remain vigilant.

In recent weeks, Kano State had suffered one of the highest impact of the Jihadists inspired violence. The resident of Kano metropolis are said to be in perpetual fear of another violent attack by the members of Boko Haram.
