…Begins Distribution of Free Education Materials to Schools

Imo state government has disclosed plans to revoke the contracts of non-performing contractors handling some monumental projects in the state.

The state commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Chinedu Offor disclosed this while briefing journalists shortly after the state Executive Council meeting held at government house Owerri.

According to Mr Offor, the state government will no longer condone the attitude of some contractors who abandon their jobs having been mobilized and paid for a particular project.

To this end, he said that the state government has decided that such contracts be revoked and handed over to another contractor for speedy completion.

He further disclosed that Governor Okorocha will on the 28th of this month organize a press conference where he will highlight on his achievements so far within the two years of his rescue mission administration.

Continuing, Mr Offor said the press conference will offer the serving commissioners opportunity to answer questions or clarify issues concerning their various ministries.

On unemployment, the commissioner disclosed that youths in the state have been directed to obtain their forms from the Sole Administrators of their respective LGAs.

Mr Offor also hinted on the state government plans to commence distribution of free education materials to schools in the state. Pointing out that the distribution will take effect from Thursday 23rd may, 2013 at heroes square, and called on the school principals , headmasters and head teachers to come for the collection of the school uniforms and other materials.
