Few weeks after the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) member representing the Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele was almost killed by thugs in Igede-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, another clandestine plot to attack top members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State has been uncovered.

A source within the State Government circle confided in us that the plot was aimed at creating a state of confusion in the State, giving the impression that it was a PDP orchestrated attacks.

The source said those already pencilled down for attack include former Governor Segun Oni, former Acting Governor and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tunji Odeyemi, governorship aspirants, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, Barrister Obafemi Adewale, Barrister Lekan Olatawura and Oni’s Media Aide, Mr. Lere Olayinka.

Though the particular motive for this plot is not known, the source said it could be aimed at either throwing the State into chaos or running members of the opposition PDP out of the State.

“A serving Council Chairman is involved in this plot and he is the one put in charge of the planned attack on Lere Olayinka and Lekan Olatawura.

“In one of the meetings where the plot was hatched, it was said that the duo of Olayinka and Olatawura are used to a location along Ilawe Road and that they can be gotten easily.

“They even said Olayinka’s fingers will be severed and that they would see how he will be able to ‘write rubbish and post it on facebook.’

“As for Oni, the plan is to ambush him on the way to Abuja between Omuo and Kabba while Adeyeye is to be attacked along Ikere-Ise road.

“That of Odeyemi is planned for Akure and the attack is billed to commence in a few days time,” the source said.

The spate of state government sponsored attacks in Ekiti State peaked on Saturday, March 30, 2013 when 38 year old Ayo Murphy Jeje was killed in Erijiyan-Ekiti. 76 year old Madam Juliana Adewunmi and her son, Gbenga was also shot by thugs allegedly led by the state Chairman of the ACN, Chief Jide Awe.

Awe and four others were last week charged to court for murder of Ayo Murphy Jeje.

A few days after the Erijiyan mayhem, Hon Opeyemi Bamidele was attacked in the house of one Chief Adu Akindele in Igede-Ekiti.

The Reps member had gone to negotiate the rentage of a building in Ado-Ekiti, which he intends to use as his campaign office.

Several shots were fired at his Sports Utility Vehicle by the hoodlums but he (Bamidele) escaped by whiskers. Bamidele had accused the Caretaker Chairman of Ireposun/Ifelodun Local Government, Mr. Tajudeen Awe of being the brain behind the attack, claiming that it was ACN thugs that attacked him.

Also, Chief Remi Oguntuase, a staunch supporter of Hon Bamidele was attacked on April 23, 2013 at Soteria Hotel, GRA, Ado-Ekiti by thugs led by the Ekiti State Coordinator of the Gani Adams faction of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Niyi Adedipe otherwise known as Apase.

Chief Oguntuase, popularly known as REMOG, owner of Mobil Petrol Station, Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti was beaten blue black before he was bundled into a car booth and taken to Fountain Hotel, Ado-Ekiti by the thugs.

At Fountain Hotel, Remog was brought before one Ayo Adaramodu, younger brother to Yemi Adaramodu, Governor Kayode Fayemi’s Chief of Staff (COS), where he was made to sit on the floor and assaulted severally.

“I was put in the booth of a car and driven away from Soteria Hotel. It was when they brought me out that I knew we were at Fountain Hotel.

“They took me to where Ayo Adaramodu was sitting and made me to sit on the floor before him.

“I was again assaulted and told that anyone supporting MOB will be ran out of Ekiti because as they said, opposition will not be allowed to operate in the State,” Oguntuase told press men.
