Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has called on the Police to fish out and prosecute those behind the crisis in Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Area which led to the death of two persons.
The Governor who lamented the unnecessary loss of lives and wanton destruction of properties during a condolence visit to the families of the victims, yesterday, said anyone found culpable will be brought to justice, no matter which political party he belongs to.
At the home of late 72-year-old Oboareyi Ivharue who was shot dead during the fracas, the governor while commiserating with the four widows and thirty children over the death of the head of the family said: “I am extremely sad by the incident because it is our responsibility to protect lives and property of all irrespective of political affiliation. The elections is about the welfare of the people and should not be done with bullets,” he noted.
The Governor who was also at the residence of 46-year-old Mhodeme Joachim, who was shot and hacked to death by suspected PDP loyalists during the fracas, assured that the culprits will not go unpunished as no act of provocation could justify the killings.
The governor thereafter inspected the burnt houses and property of the ACN Chairman in the Local Government and the ACN Councillorship candidate and also met with the elders of the community where he urged children of the deceased and the youths to resist the temptation of vengeance to avoid escalation of the problem.
While appealing to the youths to shun violence and resist being pushed into secret cults, Comrade Oshiomhole maintained that the state government will not condone politics of violence as the local government was meant to develop the people
