The imbroglio holding the All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA] to a cantankerous siege appears on a new turn towards a unfamiliar territory for the relatively young political party. Information available to 247ureports.com obtained through competent sources indicate that the two warring factions of the APGA may have been approached by concerned stakeholders and elders within the south east geo-cultural zone to impress on the parties to halt the ongoing war – and reconsider peace.
According to the information gathered, the Peter Obi faction of the APGA which recently hoisted Maxi Okwu as the national chairman of the party following a national night convention held at the woman’s development center in Awka, the capital of Anambra State – was reported to have bowed to pressures from within the State – from Church elders and other clerics – to reach out the Victor Umeh faction of the APGA – for peace negotiations.
The Governor Peter Obi’s faction, as 247ureports.com was reliably informed, sent out selected representatives to reach out to the Victor Umeh faction – to open peace talks – and to begin the rebuilding process against the 2014 gubernatorial election in November 2013. But the response from the Victor Umeh faction was conditional and partly ‘adamant’. According to the source, Chief Victor Umeh had expressed suspicion over Governor Peter Obi’s sincerity and intentions. Umeh was said to have pointed to the suit filed by Governor Peter Obi at the Supreme Court – against the continued Chairmanship of Chief Victor Umeh.
The source noted that the peace deal saw an immediate death upon arrival – this is as he noted that the stakeholders within the Peter Obi camp remain uneasy over the possible outcome of the suit at the Supreme Court – and the implications to the ability to present a gubernatorial candidate for the 2014 contest.

Meanwhile, the top officials of the newly elected exco of the Peter Obi faction of APGA appear to have narrowed the list of possible candidates to two personalities – namely, Oseloka Dubem [current SSG] and Onyechi Ikpeazu [SAN]. Both persons are from the north senatorial district of Anambra State.
