Embattled State Governor of Rivers State and Chairman Nigeria Governors Forum yesterday in Kano said that he will not lose sleep if he loses the post of chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum.
The Governor who was in Kano State on the invitation of Governor Rabiu Musa Kwanwaso, also said that the alleged political rivalry between him and President Goodluck Jonathan was just a media creation.
Amaechi said; “I am not aware about any form of rift existed between Mr. President and I, we never had cause to quarrel, so as I speak with you, I am not aware that there is any rift between us as far as I am concerned.”
Adding that the forthcoming election of the Governors’ Forum would not be a do-or-die affair, adding that he would willing exit the office if he was not voted to continue in that capacity; “If I am not re-elected as the Chairman of the Governors’ Forum, there is nothing to lose, I will still remain a member of the Forum, and also work towards its success.”
Commenting on his posters as Vice Presidential candidate to either Governor Kwankwaso or Sule Lamido flooding some northern states, he said; “My picture with that of Kano Governor as well as Jigawa Governor, Lamido, I will be vice to both.”The Governor also used the occasion to throw more light on the educational exchange programme between Kano and Rivers state, pointing out that at the moment the scheme will kick off with six students from each state by September this year, adding that the two collaborating state governments will shoulder full responsibility of sponsorship of the students.
