The Iranian president is accompanied by his top adviser Esfandiar Rahim Mashayee, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, Vice President for Executive Affairs Seyed Hassan Moussavi, Vice President for Parliamentary Affairs Mohammad-Reza Mir-Tajeddini and acting Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Asadollah Abbasi.
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his accompanying delegation arrived in the Venezuelan capital city of Caracas in a bid to attend the funeral ceremony of late President Hugo Chavez on Friday.
Political figures and leaders from across the globe are expected to attend the late Venezuelan president’s funeral procession in Caracas on Friday.
The Iranian government has declared Wednesday a day of national mourning on the occasion of the demise of the late Venezuelan President, the country also plans to hold a commemoration ceremony to honor Chavez.
President Chavez died in a hospital in the capital city of Caracas on Tuesday.
The body of late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has been put in a half-open casket for farewell.
Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro, who is due to be sworn in as acting president on Friday, has declared seven additional days of mourning.
Maduro also said after the funeral, Chavez’s body will be embalmed “like Lenin”, the Russian revolutionary leader, and put on display “for eternity” at a military museum.
