  1. Make una free my oga @ d top for me. He was too loyal his oga @ d top datz y he didnt wantd to giv d web address. Lol may GOD help our country

  2. This goes to show the way ‘who know man and connection’ works in Nigeria. When we ve qualified people out there. Its a shame!

  3. @ Omolagos! It has nothing to do with loyalty. That man doesn’t know their own web address. Why will an organisation like NSCDC not want to disclose their web address? He said http://www.nscdc. No dot com, no dot org, no dot ng. He J̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊ just incompetent. He should have come i̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ for that talk armed to the teeth.

  4. This kind officers full our Nigerians office, without education and nothing to show and the worst filling our youth chances to be employed.

  5. The man has committed no offense to warrant the suspension. NSCDC was a voluntary organization for retired military and other paramilitary personnel. Clueless PDP government in a bid to be seen as creating Job in 2003 signed it into law established it as an agency. The old group that were running it before 2003 were very analog. How will the man that carried file & order in his real active day know what a website is? 80% of those working in our ministries today cannot operate a computer system talk less of internet operation. They are use to pure corruption that the use of modern technology will remove. I wonder if President Jonathan knows the website of Aso rock.

  6. The officer did no wrong. watching the channelstv sunrisedaily, the Officer started on a good note till the point he missed the url of NSCDC. This is simply injustice. If the oga at the top had trained him and other officers effectively, guess such a caricature show on TV would have been averted. @pethianopeters (twitter)

  7. I concur wit wot sombody said and agree strongly. Dis man I believe has bin in d system b4 all dese website stuff came to be. Frankly speakin he wasnt prepared nd never expectd dt ?. More over if he does his job well, I dont tink dis is too much a crime to warrant suspension. No matter wot. Som pple wil perform worst if dy re to b in his shoes lets stop d plenty criticism nd face facts.

    • This is why the country is at stand still as we don’t seem to identify what the problem is, do a review, put corrective measures in place and finally provide justice. Free speech and Media help to provide information to the public and to a degree act as checks and balances. In this case the commentators did not embarrass the “Oga at the Top” he chose to do it himself.
      1) Let me enlighten you; if you don’t know an answer to a question, you simply say currently I cannot provide you with the right response but happy to revisit shortly and right response will be provided. This would have been the moral response (not an answer) and I can assure you, that would have been the end of the saga.
      2) He was also asked of the recruiting process of NSCDC and his answer was the “the media will carry it” – please tell me if his “so called answer” has anything to do with technology or website? He’s simply incompetent.
      3) Him being in the system for many years does not legislate for his blunder. A competent spokesperson should have been hired to represent, this is the norm.

Lastly, because his so called peers and Ogas at the top cannot do better than him does not mean he should not be disciplined. After all, the reason why this culture exist and common in Nigeria is because of lack of consequences and repercussions. I rest my case

  8. I am quite surprised to learn that the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) has suspended – Mr. Obafaiye Shem, the Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC after his infamous interview at Channels TV. By Jove, that is an overkill for someone who simply got a web address wrong and invoked the infamous “my oga at the top” phrase. So if a public servant fumbles during an interview regardless how innocuous the error is, he risks losing his job, while felons like Rasheed Maina are left to keep their job until Mr. President’s office is threatened by the national assembly.
While, the “my oga at the top” interview, provides the nation a fun way to escape the daily pressures and frustrations associated with daily life in Nigeria, however, I do not think this is a major offense per se and Mr. Shem should not be treated as an offender.

  9. For those that are surprised at the suspension, your way of thinking and mindset is why the country is at stand still as we don’t seem to identify what the problem is, do a review, put corrective measures in place and finally provide justice. Free speech and Media help to provide information to the public and to a degree act as checks and balances. In this case the commentators did not embarrass the “Oga at the Top” he chose to do it himself.

    • This is proof of chronic mediocrity and ignorance in the Public Sector. If he didn’t appear on television where the whole world saw him, he’d have denied it. Here, he was caught red-handed.

ITS NOT COMPULSORY TO COMMENT. IF YOU CANNOT COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY….SHARAAP!

  11. some people are talking rubbish here. the question “wat is ur website” is a very simple question dat a kindergarten kid can answer,.. He dont deserve dat job,its a national disgrace

  12. They should not suspend the man. where are we going to get that kind of humour from? The man is very famous and he has made Nscdc famous too. He should get a presidential award for making the whole country to laugh.

  13. Its good that they suspended him, he cannot be a man that is leading and yet he cannot present himself well. Atleast now its knwn to d public that when you called on TV its a real ordeal an so composure is needed. Its more of a wake up call for everyone in the NSCDC and even us nigerians. So I say thumbs up to their decision!!!!

  14. if they suspend my oga at the top, they should also go to national assembly and state house of assembly and suspend all the members that does not know they web site, becouse so many of them dont know the web address of state assembly and national

  15. Arrant nonsense. What has service delivery, experience, competence got to do with public communication. Why punish him if you don’t provide technological platforms that would have aided his answer. Nobody is above mistake

  16. The man really messed up big time. He would have listened to digest the question and know how to answer it whether he knows it or not. This is the calibre of majority of public service officers and something needs to be done about it because this is part of what is still setting us back as a country. I am very sure the president cannot recite the second stanza of the national anthem, the senate president does not know the official website of the national assembly and only about 1% of Ministers, Honourables and Senators can boastfully recite the National Pledge.

  17. Its not just that the man didnt know nscdc website , he made a carcature of his organization. When asked the recruitmemnt process, he couldn’t provide details as he responded by saying,, “the media will carry it.”we are also missing a point here.how co uld an officer representing an organization on nationaltv say “my oga at the top” he couldn’t say “my boss or my DG.With his finger pointing up like his oga was sittings on the roof

  18. Mr. Shem is a national hilarious hero, no matter what, he will be more remembered dan his oga at d top. He actually is a reflection of our political ogas at d top

  19. Mr. Shem is a national hilarious hero, no matter what, he will be more remembered dan his oga at d top. He actually is a reflection of our political ogas at d top. Redeployment to another station would have been a better alternative.no offense to all nscdc personnels but they now have a.k.a name. Truely funny bunch
