If there is anything the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) needs to return to winning ways in Anambra state, to be able to upstage the ruling Gov Peter Obi’s All progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), it is peace.
The party must also convince the electorates to be able to trust it again as before. This was the panacea the party needs to clinch the governorship seat in the state once again.
This was the submission of a governorship hopeful and a fresh face in the usual line-up, Chief Walter Ubaka Okeke.
The University of Nigeria trained chartered accountant and key player in the oil and gas sector in the nation’s economy said he was convinced to come out in an effort to rescue the state from the social malady that has besieged her.
He noted that the party in the state has been in turmoil for too long and it has affected the development of infrastructures and services. While calling for intense prayers for our leaders, the guber hopeful urged them to drop egotism and think more about the electorates’ expectations and welfare.
According to him, “the economy of the state is comatose; we want to see all the kidnappings stop. All the insecurities must stop as its discouraging both foreign and local investors and such were affecting social life of the state. We need to eliminate religious politics and politics of bitterness…”
Okeke admitted he was willing to take leave of absence from his private businesses to rescue Anambra state, her economy and citizens. That the people need a new song and lease of life.
